Introduction
Rugby at Wairarapa College remains as popular as ever, with approximately 200 boys playing in competitive teams. Registrations occur around March. if you have any queries contact Mr. Hughes.
We have up to eight teams entered in competitions.

- 2nd XV - Wairarapa Schools Open
- 3rd XV - Wairarapa Schools Open
- Junior 1st XV - Manawatu Schools Colts
- Junior Blue - Wairarapa Junior Open
- Junior Gold - Wairarapa Junior Open
- Under 55kg Reps - Wairarapa U55kg
The college enjoyed a successful season in 2009, with school representation made in the final of every grade we competed in. The Junior Blue team won their grade, and the 1st XV made the premier 1 final for the eigth time out of the last nine seasons. We had a large proportion of wairarapa Bush representitives, with Corey McFadzean making the Hurricanes Schools' standby squad.
Girls rugby has also been successful in growing support and high achievement, with Shikira Baker highlighted as a potential Black Fern of the future, with immense potential.
We are very lucky to have some excellent and committed coaches and managers, offering students the best motivation to succeed and develop. A big thanks to all of them!
