Introduction

Hockey is the elite sport at Wairarapa College.
Both our girls and boys teams compete at the highest echelon of National Secondary Schools hockey playing against the best other 15 colleges in New Zealand at national tournament.
The girls have competed at The Federation Cup since its inception – an incredible feat! They won the Cup in 2005 and finished 8th in 2009.
The boys won promotion to The Rankin Cup for 2007 and finished a very honourable 7th in 2009.
Boy's Hockey
We have five boys teams entered in competitions.
The 1st XI plays in the Wellington Premier 1 Secondary Boys grade – they won the competition for three straight years ( 2006,2007,2008 ) and were just edged out in the 2009 semi-final.
The 2nd XI plays in the local Wairarapa Mens 1 grade.
A senior social team, the Colts and a junior team all play in the local College grade. All teams are well turned out and represent the College proudly.

Girl's hockey

We have four girls teams entered in competitions.
The 1st XI plays in the Wellington Premier 1 Secondary Girls grade – they are constantly in the top 4 and were narrowly beaten finalists in 2009.
The 2nd XI plays in the local Wairarapa Womens grade.
A 3rd XI and a junior team compete with pride in the local College grade.
