French
‘To speak another language is to have another soul’
All students are capable of learning a language.
‘Despite the reported student perceptions that only ‘bright’ children are able to learn a second language, all children are born with a learning aptitude, without which they would not be able to learn to speak English. It is this same aptitude that allows them to study and learn a second and third language’ E.R.O Report 1994.
The benefits of learning French extend beyond gaining a second language.
A recent University of Toronto study showed that bilingual people;
- were better able to concentrate on complex tasks and had better reaction times
- were much less likely to suffer from the mental decline associated with old age
Perhaps the most important factor in learning French is the amount of exposure to the language. The more we see, hear and read French the faster we will learn.
Use the games and activities on this site for practice and reinforce the vocabulary and structures learned in class and you will reap the benefits.
Allons-y!
