Food Technology

In Year 9 students design healthy snacks for their age group. They use research and knowledge to develop improved products. Then ICT to help develop ideas and present results. Students then study processes and how they relate to their designs. Included is practical work which is planned, carried out and any changes to the recipe recorded. The final high quality product is made. In this case the product is a burger for the Beef and Lamb Regional round of the Burger Competition.

In Year 10 students model best practice. Selected ideas are refined and modelled to consider viability and possible improvements. Practically focussed tasks are carried out so that skills and methods are practised relevant to the design project. Students experiment with ingredients and processes to get the quality right.
